Field notes
Building a one-page confirmation checklist
A checklist that fits on one page gets used. A handbook that lives in a drawer does not.
Four lines
- Pattern — which candle shapes you trade at all.
- Proof — the confirming close or hold you require.
- Invalidation — the candle that ends the idea.
- Session filter — hours when you refuse first-print entries.
Keep it instrument-specific
FTSE scalping and daily cable swing trading rarely share the same proof line. If you trade both, keep two pages.
Revisiting the page
After two weeks of journals, rewrite only the line that failed most often. That rewrite is the usual homework after an intensive follow-up call.
