Inside bars: confirmation or compression?

An inside bar sits within the prior range. It tells you pressure paused. It does not tell you direction.

Confirmation after the break

Many traders enter on the first tick beyond the mother bar. Confirmation-minded traders wait for a close beyond that extreme, then watch whether the following candle keeps the break intact. A quick spike that returns inside the mother range is often treated as a failed break, not a late invitation.

Timeframe honesty

An inside bar on the hourly chart and an inside bar on the five-minute chart demand different patience. Write the timeframe on your checklist so you do not borrow a daily confirmation rule for a scalping chart.
